How to get started with a community mailbox

If you’ve moved to a neighbourhood with a Canada Post community mailbox, we’ll get you up to speed. Find out how to locate your mailbox, how to get keys and how to receive packages.

Locate your community mailbox

You’ll need to get in touch with us to find out the location of your community mailbox. We can also let you know the module number of your mailbox and your compartment number.

Find your module and compartment number

Look for 2 different numbers to identify your compartment within your community mailbox. Locate the module number in the top left-hand corner of the community mailbox. Find your personal compartment number located on the locked boxes within the module.

Get keys to your compartment

Request new keys If your landlord, realtor or previous owners can’t provide you with the keys to your community mailbox, you can complete the online form to request new keys.

Pick up your keys You’ll receive a notice card when your keys are ready. Bring it along with government-issued photo ID to the post office indicated on your notice card.

Locate your community mailbox Inside the key package you will also find the location and compartment number of your community mailbox.

Please note

If you live in a condo, strata, apartment or have a business mailbox, you’ll have to contact your building manager or superintendent for keys, as Canada Post doesn’t manage these mailboxes. If you aren’t sure whether your mailbox is managed by Canada Post, chat with us and we’ll be happy to assist you.

Once you've submitted a service request for new locks and keys, you can't cancel it.

To protect the privacy and security of your mail, we do not keep copies of the keys to your community mailbox.
